Pre and post cruise

How to get there - You can get a direct flight to Bergen from numerous European cities, or you can fly to Oslo and get a connecting flight to Bergen. Examples of cities with direct flights to Bergen: Aberdeen, Alicante, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik, Edinburgh, Hamburg, Helsinki, London, Malaga, Newcastle, Nice, Paris, Prague, Reykjavik, Riga, Salzburg, Split, Stockholm and Warsaw. Go to www.amadeus.net to check flights. You may also travel to Bergen by boat from Hanstholm, Denmark and Newcastle, England. Go to www.fjordline.com or www.dfds.no to check boats. If you wish to travel by train, we recommend taking the famous Bergen Line from Oslo. Go to www.nsb.no to check trains.

Bergen - We definitely recommend spending time in Bergen, a charming city with a lot of character and history. Our recommendations for where to stay in Bergen, are the following:

Hannas Place

Skuteviken Guesthouse - A most charming guesthouse with gorgeous, fully furbished apartments within very short walking distance of the city centre.
Skuteviken Guesthouse

Hannas Place is a private guesthouse in the historic part of Bergen. These are large and charming apartments in Old Bergen villas at a very reasonable rate.

Findebotten – A place to linger… Most people wish to stay on at Findebotten farm; we therefore suggest that you return to Findebotten after the end of the cruise and spend another night or two. Please ask us for more information regarding this option.

Balestrand - After the cruise ends in Balestrand, you may want to stay there overnight instead of returning to Bergen. There is really only one option in Balestrand, and an excellent one it is:
Kviknes Hotel - the legendary, historic hotel right on the shores of the Sognefjord.

Fjaerland
Another option is to stay in Fjaerland after the visit to the Boyabreen glacier and spend the night at the historic and very charming Hotel Mundal (where we have lunch the same day).

Flam
We may offer a private boat transfer from Balestrand to Flam after the end of the cruise on Sunday afternoon. Please contact us for more details on this.

Where to next? - From Balestrand, you may for instance want to catch a ferry to the wild and remote Aurlandsfjord and the village of Flam from where the famous Flam Railway dramatically circles its way up mountain to the isolated Myrdal station – literally speaking in the middle of nowhere. From here you can catch another train back to Bergen or go east across the mountains to Oslo.
